So far the only pictures I've seen of The White Horse. My 3x great grandfather, Henry Francis Hone, ran this coaching inn 1879-1884. He was apparently also Cippenham surveyor of highways for a time during that period.

My Grandfather, dad and I all drank at the pub.
Very popular during WW2 for all the servicemen who had family.

I used to drink here with a group of friends, age 16 ish! 1970. It was always full with a good atmosphere. I was sad to see it go.

In the 70's, it was occupied by the Lyons family. The car park was filled with big tunnel sections at one point, to close in the adjacent brook. Same as on Cippenham Green. As kids we loved occupying them! The back garden had an old WW2 Anderson shelter, in which we indulged in questionable activities, as kids do!
