There was still quite a bit of land this side of Bath Rd, there was where Sara Lee (Aspro) factory was built (altho I think Aspro's grew veg here for their own canteen) where Westgate school was built and all the way down to sewage farm (until M4 was built in 1960) There was a row of conker trees opposite Wood Lane (in Cippenham Lane) with a cow byre with pantile roof in a dip behind them with Dutch barns above and behind and bull pen beside. Below Big Barn was a few sheds, a pond with a walnut tree over (made it diff to scrump nuts, don't the skins stain your hand yellow, like nicotine!) 2 long fields down to 2 mile brook separated by stream from pond, in 1 Headington kept 3 old carthorses (with big "cherries" (growths on legs) which were only used in carting hay from big field down by sewage farm. I got from Slough Museum a map with all the names of these fields on but lent to Aunty Joan & uncle Ken, like a 1933 Kellys Bucks, Berks and Oxon, dunno what happened to them after they died.
